Battle Of The Bands - St Ives Guildhall

Gary And The Minefield - Ayr Field St Ives  - July 2010

At least three young local bands will get the opportunity to play a gig at St Ives Guildhall during the September Festival -  following a series of Battle Of The Bands heats.

It looks like one of them will be Gary and The Minefield who have posted the gig on their FaceBook and MySpace pages.

I saw part of their set at Ayr Field Day a couple of weeks ago and  really enjoyed it - check out the video.

If anybody knows which other bands are playing let me know.

St Ives September Festival - Accommodation

Lyonesse Seven - Luxury Apartment - Harbour View

Many places get heavily booked during the festival fortnight - so if you're planning to come down here it may be worth booking somewhere now.

These are some of the places that still have availability - get in touch with them for more information and to book. Obviously availability can change day by day:

Lyonesse Seven - a luxury apartment with three bedrooms sleeping six, great views over St Ives Bay and St Ives Harbour. They are offering a 10% discount if you book before the end of July.

Blue Horizon - a luxury apartment with ocean views, two bedrooms sleeping up to five people. Available from 18th - 24th September.

One Ayr Lane - a cottage near to the Hepworth Museum with two bedrooms sleeping four. Right in the centre of town and close to the main festival venues, but in a quiet location.

The Sail Lofts - a five star luxury apartment and a cottage. A few steps away from Porthmeor Beach and The Island.

2 Albany Terrace - friendly comfortable bed and breakfast with a double and a twin room. Overlooks Porthminster Beach, various dates available for any length of stay.

Art House - bed and breakfast run by a local artist with one double room - "artist friendly" but all welcome. In a quiet location but only a short stroll from the town centre and the main festival venues, various dates available for any length of stay.

Also - one thing worth noting. If you contact St Ives Tourist Information about available accommodation they are only allowed to mention places that have paid for a listing in the "official" Visit Cornwall guide. Many excellent places, including some of the above, have chosen to advertise elsewhere and are not listed.
